Here's an email update about housing needs that are being met and needs that still need to be addressed:
"Tornado Relief
-Secured housing for 2 families. Deposit paid and rent needed. Brookhill Elementary is taking up donations to pay for part of this.
-Tomorrow the key will be picked up. Arrangements have been made for a group to clean. (Group is from Valley; they called when we needed it and offered.) We need to fill the house with the following items.
Beds/bedding/blankets - 2 regular size for adults (parents)
-5 halves for children (bunks or whatever)
Maybe full- oldest son is a high schooler but space is an issue.
Table & Chairs
Sofa
Bathroom fixings
Kitchen fixings
This family wanted me to only request the beds but they need it all. They also want to come help clean on Wednesday because they are off work. One room really needs to be painted. Last residents had painted it wild strips. Maybe we could provide paint and help to paint on Wednesday. I think the teens would like this. He is a soccer player. I might be able to talk with Coach Oakley about some of the boys helping out….
Another opportunity-
We are also meeting to look at another house for another family. Property belongs to the same man as the above property. A family from Brookhill has offered to let them live with them while we get the other property in shape. IF it is suitable. A family offered to help with rent if we could help with deposits. I am unsure they could pay the full amount but they want to help. He also wants a job. He is a construction worker. Great family…My principal went by there and she said that the lady was cleaning the house and it was half into! Their home has always been spotless when I have visited.
These are the kind of people you want to help!"
So we may need help tomorrow painting and delivering furniture. If you have furniture that you would like to donate, we can definitely use it.
